The IOM Mission in the Republic of Korea, operational since 1999, plays a vital role in humanitarian and development assistance, liaising with various actors and promoting beneficial migration principles through training and research.

Job Purpose

This role provides essential technical support to the Project Support Unit within the IOM Mission to the Republic of Korea. The intern will work under the guidance of the National Programme Officer and the direct supervision of the National Media and Communications Officer. The primary objective is to assist in enhancing IOM's communication efforts, particularly through digital content creation and social media management. This involves supporting the production and dissemination of various communication materials to effectively convey IOM's work, engage online audiences, and maintain the visibility of its programmes and donor contributions. The position contributes to the overall mission of promoting humane and orderly migration by ensuring clear and impactful communication.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include assisting in the drafting, editing, and production of digital content such as social media posts, images, videos, and newsletters to boost online engagement. The role involves supporting the daily management of IOM's social media channels, including scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and preparing basic analytics. Additionally, the intern will aid in the production and distribution of newsletters, support website maintenance and updates, and assist in drafting and disseminating press releases. The position also entails supporting the creation of branding and donor-visibility materials, maintaining digital content archives, and performing other related duties as assigned. This role emphasizes collaboration, clear communication, and delivering results.

Work Experience

Experience or working knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, YouTube) is necessary. Familiarity with marketing communications, graphic design, or video editing is advantageous. Proficiency in standard office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Previous experience in an international organization is desirable.

Skills

Understanding of multimedia content production and dissemination across digital platforms. Ability to edit images and videos for digital and social media use. Editorial judgment with marketing communication understanding. Familiarity with humanitarian or migration work is advantageous. Knowledge of the UN system is preferred.
