Organizational Context
Established in 1951, IOM is a UN-related organization and the leading agency in migration. IOM ROK, active since 1999, partners with civil society and government on migration issues. The Programme Support Unit provides policy, operational, and partnership support to the Korean government and international partners, addressing human mobility and humanitarian assistance.
Job Purpose
The KOICA YP_Project Intern will support the implementation of various projects within the IOM ROK Programme Support Unit. This role involves assisting with activities related to government and civil society partnerships, refugee resettlement, movement operations, and aid to vulnerable migrants. The intern will work under the supervision of the Sr. National Government Liaison and Partnership Officer and the Sr. Project Associate, contributing to the unit's comprehensive support for the Government of Korea and international collaborations in human mobility and humanitarian assistance.
Responsibilities
Assist with IOM ROK's movement operations for refugees and vulnerable migrants, including data management, documentation, and procurement. Support administrative tasks for refugee resettlement projects, documenting results and assisting in meetings. Provide administrative and procurement support for ad-hoc return and reintegration assistance. Participate in stakeholder meetings and project development on domestic migrant issues, including research and documentation. Offer logistical and administrative support for the ANDEX capacity building program. Assist in arranging and coordinating mission events like seminars and conferences. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Experience in desk research is required. Prior experience in an international, non-governmental, or governmental organization, with project support and implementation, is desirable. Experience in an international environment is preferred.
Skills
Proficiency in office software packages (e.g., MS Word, Excel). Familiarity with humanitarian assistance, international development, and migration issues. Professional proficiency in both Korean and English (oral and written) is required.
