Organizational Context

This role operates under the general supervision of the Senior Resource Management Officer and direct supervision of the Office Coordinator.
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for the safe operation of assigned IOM vehicles and the transportation of IOM staff nationally. The Conductor must adhere strictly to the Organization's regulations and traffic laws. The purpose is to ensure secure and efficient movement of personnel, contributing to the operational effectiveness of IOM's mission in Colombia. This involves maintaining vehicle readiness, safe driving practices, and timely transportation, all while upholding IOM's standards of conduct and confidentiality. The position supports the logistical needs of the organization, ensuring staff can carry out their duties effectively and safely within the operational area.
Responsibilities
Key duties include operating assigned IOM vehicles for official missions, ensuring the safety of passengers and adherence to traffic regulations and defensive driving standards. The role requires selecting optimal routes considering potential security risks. Responsibilities extend to reporting on vehicle maintenance needs, performing daily checks on fluids, and maintaining cleanliness. A detailed log of vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, and mileage must be kept. Immediate reporting of damages or accidents and ensuring proper procedures are followed is crucial. The Conductor will also maintain vehicle logbooks, perform courier duties, undertake travel outside the duty station as requested, and operate assigned communication equipment. Strict compliance with IOM's vehicle usage policies, confidentiality, and conduct standards is mandatory, along with adherence to all IOM and UN security guidelines.
Work Experience
Required experience includes working as a driver, operating various vehicle types (especially 4x4), and experience in humanitarian or emergency contexts. Experience with international humanitarian organizations, NGOs, or governmental bodies in a multicultural setting is advantageous. Basic knowledge of IT and Microsoft Office 365 applications is also beneficial.
Skills
Proficiency in Spanish (oral and written) is required. Intermediate English (oral and written) is desirable. Skills include safe driving, vehicle maintenance, route planning, communication equipment operation, record-keeping, adherence to regulations, confidentiality, and teamwork.
