Job Purpose
The Head of Clinic will be responsible for managing the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This role operates under the supervision of the Regional Health Assessment Programme Coordinator and/or Chief of Mission, with technical guidance from the Chief Migration Health Officer or Deputy Regional Health Assessment Programme Coordinator. The position requires close coordination with the National Health Operations Officer to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the MHAC, contributing to IOM's mission of providing essential health services and assessments to migrants and refugees.
Responsibilities
The Head of Clinic is responsible for organizing and supervising the migration health assessment process, ensuring compliance with technical requirements for resettlement countries. This includes managing medical examinations, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, pre-departure procedures, and documentation. The role involves conducting health assessments, maintaining facility infrastructure and equipment, and coordinating human resources to meet service demands. Additionally, the Head of Clinic will lead efforts to establish client-centered procedures, implement quality improvement systems, and ensure adherence to IOM's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Collaboration with public health interventions, managing clinical and non-clinical staff, overseeing procurement of medical supplies, and maintaining data confidentiality and security are also key duties. Financial oversight, budget preparation, and reporting are essential, alongside facilitating the integration of health assessment activities into broader IOM programming.
Work Experience
Requires professional clinical experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary hospital or international clinic setting, with specific experience in Migration Health Assessments. Demonstrated progressive experience in health program management, project development, and report writing is essential. Proven ability to establish partnerships with government and health institutions, knowledge of public health, and understanding of patient safety and infection control are necessary. Experience in migration health emergency response is an asset.
