Job Purpose

The Project Associate (Socioeconomic Inclusion) will support the implementation and monitoring of project activities within IOM Ecuador. This role is crucial for assisting in the coordination of project execution, ensuring administrative processes are managed efficiently, and contributing to the overall success of initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive development and upholding the rights of migrants. The position involves close collaboration with various internal units and external partners to facilitate project delivery and achieve strategic objectives in migration management and support.

Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, and analyzing project data. Monitor project budgets, verify fund availability, and process necessary approvals. Act as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with diverse units and external parties to manage administrative actions. Draft status reports, correspondence, and project documentation, including briefing notes and presentations. Respond to information requests, maintain project files, and organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Coordinate with Communications for outreach materials and events. Participate in meetings and assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, and other stakeholders. Monitor the work of implementing partners and report non-compliances. Provide guidance to junior staff and support liaison with ministries and local governments for competency recognition and regulatory compliance.

Work Experience

Experience liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees. Prior experience in international humanitarian organizations or in a multicultural setting is advantageous. Experience in economic inclusion, MSME banking, funds management, or international cooperation is desirable, as is knowledge of procurement/donor regulations and financial control.
