Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Intern
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related agency established in 1951, is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. It works with governments and partners to save lives, protect migrants, resolve displacement, and facilitate legal migration pathways. The Internship Programme aims to attract students and graduates interested in migration-related fields, offering practical experience within IOM's diverse and inclusive workplace.

The intern will gain practical knowledge of AVRR operational procedures, including counselling, case documentation, data management, travel arrangements, departure procedures, and reintegration administrative processes. The position operates under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, contributing to the effective delivery of AVRR services in line with IOM policies and procedures. This role is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience in migration management and support for vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the AVRR team by assisting with counselling activities, including information collection and documentation, and updating case information in databases. Responsibilities include preparing and consolidating programme documents, statistics, reports, and briefing materials. The role involves supporting the Movement Unit with departure documentation and logistical arrangements for beneficiaries. Additionally, the intern will aid the Reintegration Unit by preparing documentation, updating records, and compiling data on reintegration assistance. Administrative and operational support to the AVRR team, including meeting participation and material preparation, is also required. The intern may be asked to perform other related duties as needed.
Work Experience
No prior professional experience is required for this internship. However, previous internship, volunteer, academic, or extracurricular experience in migration, social inclusion, social services, or community activities is beneficial. Experience in administrative or organizational support, and exposure to multicultural or international settings, are considered assets.
