Job Purpose

The Senior Project Associate – Climate Action will support the implementation of migration and climate resilience programs in Mindanao, specifically within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). This role operates under the supervision of the Head of Sub-Office, the National Peace, Transition and Recovery Program Coordinator, and the National Project Officer (Climate Action). The position ensures that all activities align with IOM's policies, standards, and commitments, contributing to the organization's broader mission of addressing migration challenges and enhancing community resilience in the region.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include supporting the coordination and implementation of migration and climate resilience projects, ensuring alignment with work plans and IOM/donor standards. This involves analyzing implementation challenges and recommending adjustments. The role requires researching, compiling, and analyzing information on relevant developments, and monitoring, documenting, and reporting on project progress, outputs, and challenges. The Associate will coordinate financial, administrative, and technical aspects of projects, plan and conduct capacity-building workshops, and liaise with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Additionally, the position involves coordinating the preparation of correspondence and reports, identifying best practices, and supporting the development of new projects and Standard Operating Procedures.

Work Experience

Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience in implementing migration and climate resilience projects in the Philippines, particularly in BARMM, is essential. The role also requires experience in project implementation, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder coordination within humanitarian, peacebuilding, or community stabilization programs. Prior work with UN-related organizations or international humanitarian bodies in a multicultural setting is advantageous.

Skills

Essential skills include strong analytical, research, drafting, and report-writing abilities. Proficiency in project implementation, monitoring, and reporting processes is necessary. The role requires the ability to effectively coordinate and liaise with government counterparts, development partners, and community stakeholders. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and possess familiarity with the BARMM context and programming related to migration, climate resilience, peacebuilding, or community stabilization.
