Project Specialist
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ukraine seeks a Project Specialist to assist in the implementation of Migration and Border Governance (MBG) projects. This role operates under the supervision of senior program officers and directly supports the National Programme Officer in executing project activities within the MBG framework.
Job Purpose
The Project Specialist will be instrumental in supporting the successful implementation of the Migration and Border Governance (MBG) projects in Ukraine. This involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of various project activities, ensuring alignment with program objectives and donor requirements. The role contributes to the overall effectiveness of the MBG programme by facilitating smooth project operations, monitoring progress, and providing essential administrative and logistical support. The specialist will also play a key role in information management, reporting, and liaison with stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of results and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of MBG project activities. This involves compiling, analyzing, and presenting data on migration and border governance, integrated border management, customs, and EU integration. The specialist will monitor budget implementation, act as a focal point for administrative and logistical coordination, and liaise with EU technical experts and the Supply Chain Unit for timely procurement. Drafting reports, correspondence, and project documentation, organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and providing interpretation/translation services are also core duties. The role requires responding to information requests, maintaining project files, and liaising with various local and international stakeholders, including travel for project-related activities.
Work Experience
Required experience includes migration and border governance, integrated border management, and EU integration issues, with operational and field experience. Experience with IOM administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, and liaising with governmental and international institutions is necessary. Proficiency in office software packages, including spreadsheet and data analysis, is also essential. Prior work in a multicultural setting with international organizations is advantageous.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of migration and border governance subjects. Understanding of UN and bilateral donor programming. Familiarity with IOM financial rules and regulations. Fluency in English and Ukrainian.
