Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation of projects within the Migrant Protection and Assistance (MPA) Unit, primarily focusing on Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR). The incumbent will assist with various movement management activities, including Resettlement and Relocation. The position is crucial for ensuring the smooth execution of these projects, contributing to IOM's mission of assisting migrants and governments. The role involves direct interaction with migrants, administrative support, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate safe and orderly migration processes.
Responsibilities
Key duties include registering AVRR applications, coordinating pre-departure formalities by liaising with referral partners and embassies for travel documents, and preparing departure packages. The role involves providing flight bookings, offering in-person assistance to departing migrants at Brussels Airport for check-in, security, and border control, and guiding them to boarding gates. Assistance is also provided to migrants at designated bus meeting points. Responsibilities extend to assisting with the reimbursement of grants and travel costs, managing basic financial records, and reporting expenditures. Additionally, the role involves providing transit assistance to beneficiaries at Brussels Airport and assisting arriving migrants with formalities.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work in the area of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR). Proven working experience in IOM Movement Operations is also essential for this role.
Skills
Proficiency in IOM proprietary tools (MiMOSA Web, ATOMS) and the Amadeus Global Distribution System is required. Experience working at Brussels Airport and a valid EU driving licence (category B) with the ability to drive a manual vehicle are necessary. Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. The role requires working in shifts and irregular hours.
