AVRR Project Assistant (outreach) Part-Time Umbria
Organizational Context

This role is situated within the Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta, based in the Umbria Region.
Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) counselling and activities within the project 'Training, Assistance and Territorial Support for the Efficiency of Assisted Voluntary Returns'. The incumbent will assist in delivering AVRR information and counselling to migrants, manage application processes, and coordinate with various stakeholders to facilitate voluntary returns. The position contributes to IOM's mission of promoting orderly migration and supporting individuals on the move by providing essential services and facilitating safe return pathways.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining contact with local stakeholders such as municipalities, NGOs, and diaspora groups to support AVRR information dissemination and referral mechanisms. The role involves providing AVRR information sessions and tailored counselling to Third Country Nationals interested in returning home. This includes assisting migrants in completing applications, submitting them to relevant authorities, and managing case files. The incumbent will also disseminate project information materials, coordinate with consulates for travel documents, and liaise with Italian institutions like Police Headquarters and Prefectures to facilitate the return process. Additionally, the role involves assisting with the transportation of medical and non-medical cases, collecting data for reporting, and contributing to success stories.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of experience in the migration sector, with a focus on direct assistance to migrant populations, including those in vulnerable situations. Proven experience working with Italian institutions at central and local levels, civil society, and diaspora groups is essential. Experience in a multicultural team is also necessary. Previous experience in AVRR counselling is considered an asset.
