Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. It works with governments and partners to save lives, protect migrants, and facilitate pathways for regular migration. The Private Sector Partnerships Division (PSP), within the Department of Strategy and External Engagement, focuses on building impactful and innovative partnerships with the private sector to support IOM's strategic priorities and advance safe, orderly, and regular migration.
Job Purpose
This role leads global private sector pipeline performance, overseeing fundraisers and converting high-value corporate and foundation opportunities into realized partnerships and income. The incumbent provides strategic guidance, tools, and quality assurance to PSP fundraisers, Regional Offices, and Country Offices. The objective is to build disciplined, realistic, and priority-aligned pipelines that support flexible income generation and advance IOM's institutional priorities. This involves driving engagement with the private sector based on impact, income, and innovation, fostering changes in corporate values and practices, enhancing migrant rights protection, generating technical partnerships, and growing flexible funding to support program implementation and the Global Compact for Migration.
Responsibilities
The Head of Partnerships and Pipeline Unit is responsible for leading and overseeing the global private sector fundraising pipeline, ensuring active performance oversight of fundraisers and their portfolios to improve pipeline quality, forecast accuracy, and income target achievement. This includes identifying, prioritizing, and advancing high-value private sector engagement opportunities, originating and shaping new partnerships, and establishing robust pipeline management tools. The role involves reviewing fundraiser pipelines, providing guidance on prospect qualification, donor cultivation, and proposal development, and ensuring alignment with IOM's financial and legal frameworks. Additionally, the position provides strategic support to Country and Regional Offices, coordinates regional task forces, and oversees due diligence processes. A key aspect is capacity building through coaching, training, and developing practical fundraising tools and resources for PSP staff and offices. The role also involves preparing management analyses on pipeline performance, monitoring KPIs, and leading a high-performing team.
Work Experience
Requires proven experience in leading private sector fundraising and partnership development with corporations and foundations, including mobilizing multi-year and flexible income. Demonstrated experience overseeing fundraisers, donor portfolios, and fundraising pipelines is essential. Significant experience in identifying, shaping, and securing new private sector opportunities, building long-term partner relationships, and working cross-functionally with various internal teams is necessary. At least seven years of relevant experience in private sector partnership building and fundraising is required, with proven success in mobilizing financial resources and utilizing CRM/pipeline data for forecasting.

Proven track record in private sector partnerships and fundraising with strong ability to meet targets and hold fundraisers accountable. Demonstrated ability to analyze fundraising pipelines, assess opportunity value, develop realistic forecasts, and translate data into management recommendations. Ability to advise and support offices in shaping propositions and strengthening donor engagement. Skill in developing user-friendly fundraising tools and resources. Ability to reconcile organizational needs with partner needs. Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills. In-depth understanding of private sector partnerships, fundraising, philanthropy, UN agencies, migration, and business and human rights.
