Job Purpose
The Supply Chain Officer, reporting to the Resource Management Officer and Head of Sub Office, is accountable for all supply chain activities within the Sub-Office. Guided by Supply Chain Management (SCM) objectives, the role ensures the timely delivery of quality goods and services to beneficiaries at optimal prices. This position involves close collaboration with regional offices and headquarters, contributing to the strategic planning and execution of supply chain operations in a challenging environment.
Responsibilities
The Supply Chain Officer will contribute to strategic supply chain planning, conduct logistics capacity assessments, and perform market research. Responsibilities include coordinating and monitoring all SCM tasks such as planning, budgeting, procurement, warehouse management, transport, distribution, fleet, and asset management. The role involves identifying and optimizing supply chain processes to ensure efficient delivery of goods and services. Additionally, the officer will manage vendor relationships, oversee bidding processes, ensure compliance with procurement rules, and contribute to the establishment of internal control mechanisms. Training and development of SCM staff, as well as participation in UN inter-agency meetings, are also key duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes managing diverse procurement and logistics operations in hardship posts or conflict zones with high volume. Demonstrated experience in training and supervising teams, managing vendors and suppliers is essential. Experience managing supply chain teams in L3 operations is advantageous.
Skills
Extensive knowledge of IOM/UN internal procurement and financial rules, systems, and processes. Excellent computer literacy. Familiarity with Oracle is an advantage. Fluency in English and French is required. Working knowledge of other official UN languages is advantageous.
