Organizational Context

The Manila Supply Chain Unit (MSCU) in Manila provides global advisory, back-office, warehouse operations, and procurement support for IOM projects worldwide. As part of the Supply Chain Division, MSCU reviews procurements to ensure IOM regulations are followed. This role is within the Logistics and Warehousing Services Team, supporting worldwide IOM operations under the supervision of the Senior Supply Chain Associate (Team Lead).

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide essential logistics, warehousing, and supply chain support services to IOM operations globally. The Supply Chain Associate will assist in planning and implementing logistics activities, coordinating with internal stakeholders and service providers, and supporting contract and procurement processes. This position contributes to ensuring that IOM Missions and Offices receive procedural support in line with established IOM policies, procedures, and supply chain best practices. The role is crucial for the efficient functioning of the Manila Supply Chain Unit, which plays a key role in procurement process reviews and providing guidance on IOM's procurement policy.

Responsibilities

Draft and assist in developing logistics plans and supporting documents for operations. Provide timely and cost-effective logistics support for IOM shipments in coordination with procurement and global stock operations. Liaise with transport providers for claims processing. Assist in analyzing logistics contract data and generating statistics for review. Offer procedural advice to IOM Missions and Offices on logistics matters, adhering to current IOM policies and best practices. Act as the primary contact for internal teams, freight forwarders, and customs authorities. Support the dissemination of supply chain best practices and contribute to logistics-related training. Assist in developing and updating quality control mechanisms, SOPs, and guidelines to enhance internal controls within logistics operations. Perform buyer functions as required and undertake duty travel for field missions when necessary.

Work Experience

Experience in logistics, supply chain operations, procurement, or warehousing is required. Experience supporting logistics coordination, procurement processes, contract administration, and preparing operational reports is necessary. Prior experience in an international, governmental, or multinational organization is desirable.

Skills

Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, warehousing, and freight forwarding. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Effective communication and teamwork skills for multicultural environments.
