This role, an Information Technology Associate in IOM Chad, operates under the general supervision of the ICT Officer and direct supervision of the Senior ICT Officer (Team Leader).
Job Purpose
The Information Technology Associate's primary purpose is to ensure the efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of IT systems and hardware peripherals for IOM Chad, supporting all projects. This role is crucial for implementing ICT requirements across the mission, ensuring that all technological resources function optimally to meet operational demands. The associate will serve as the first point of contact for daily IT service calls, managing support tickets, troubleshooting and resolving minor IT issues, and escalating complex problems to senior ICT staff. This position contributes significantly to maintaining a robust and reliable IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless technical support for staff, and upholding organizational ICT standards. By effectively managing IT systems and providing timely support, the associate directly enables IOM Chad's operational effectiveness, facilitating the smooth execution of its migration programs and projects. This role is vital for minimizing downtime, enhancing user productivity, and safeguarding data integrity, thereby supporting the overall mission objectives.
Responsibilities
IT System Management and Maintenance: Install and configure approved software systems on servers and workstations, ensuring compliance with established standards. Install new hardware, including PCs, laptops, servers, and printers, performing periodic system cleaning and maintenance. Maintain installed software, apply necessary updates (including antivirus definitions), and optimize systems as required. Ensure proper functioning of workstation/server hardware components. User Support and Troubleshooting: Provide first-level technical support to users, resolving issues related to access, online connectivity, file storage, and application functionality. Act as the primary contact for staff collecting new or replacement hardware. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, or connectivity problems promptly, escalating complex issues to the Mission's ICT unit. Address end-user queries and constraints related to software and other ICT components. Inventory and Asset Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of IT hardware, monitor stock levels, and alert supervisors when thresholds are low. Identify and prepare equipment for disposal. Track purchase requests for ICT equipment, test new hardware, and report findings to the Mission's ICT Head. Identify defective devices, arrange replacements, and log repairs and maintenance. Data Management and Security: Perform regular backups of user and server data, randomly testing backups for consistency and integrity. Communication Systems and Compliance: Manage email user accounts and distribution lists, ensuring their integrity. Support awareness among mission staff regarding IOM's ICT regulations and standards. Manage PABX and communication systems. Provide support for specific systems like Telerad, file servers, PACS servers, and iCRco_XC software.
Work Experience
Five years of relevant experience in ICT, including operational and field experience, is required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work with an established IT support center, communicating via phone and email. Good knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking, VOIP, enterprise Skype installations, and other IOM-approved software is essential. MSCE, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and Power Apps qualifications are considered an advantage.
Skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office applications. Knowledge of other computer packages and their implementation is an advantage.
