Senior Programme Associate (food Security) (national Position)

Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Marshall Islands is implementing a Japan-funded Food Security and Livelihoods project. This Senior Programme Associate role, based in Majuro and reporting to the Head of Sub-Office, will support project implementation by coordinating with local government entities and contributing to food security outcomes.

Job Purpose

The Senior Programme Associate (Food Security) will provide crucial support to the implementation of the Japan-funded Food Security and Livelihoods project in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The role's primary purpose is to contribute to achieving food security objectives by fostering close collaboration with the Public School System and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Commerce. This involves coordinating and delivering training sessions and workshops, managing the procurement and distribution of essential food security and livelihood inputs, and actively participating in the planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities at both community and institutional levels to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support for food security and livelihoods activities, ensuring alignment with project plans. Facilitate communication and coordination with key government counterparts, including the RMI Public School System and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Commerce. Maintain organized program documentation and assist in collecting and compiling activity data for reporting. Support the procurement processes, including tracking deliveries and documenting the receipt and distribution of project inputs. Assist with logistical arrangements for trainings, workshops, and community outreach events, including material preparation and participant support. Engage in community outreach related to food production, nutrition, and livelihoods. Track inventory of project goods and perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Required experience includes supporting school or community-based development activities and assisting with food security, nutrition, or livelihoods initiatives within the RMI context. Experience with training, workshops, or community outreach is preferred. Prior working experience with an international organization, embassy, or NGO is advantageous.

Skills

Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision. Strong partnership-building skills with development partners, government counterparts, UN agencies, and local authorities. Fluency in English (oral and written).
