Project Associate
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Bulgaria seeks a Project Associate to provide administrative and operational support for Labour Mobility and Inclusion (LMI) activities. This role, based in Sofia and supporting the Migrant Information and Resource Center (MRC), will coordinate with stakeholders to facilitate migrant integration.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate will offer crucial administrative and operational support for the implementation and reporting of IOM's Labour Mobility and Inclusion (LMI) activities, particularly those managed through the Migrant Information and Resource Center (MRC) in Sofia. This role is vital for ensuring the smooth execution of project objectives and will involve extensive communication and coordination with various entities, including public authorities, NGOs, migrant communities, and other relevant stakeholders. The primary goal is to effectively support migrant integration initiatives within Bulgaria, contributing to the overall success of IOM's mission in the region.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, specifically supporting the National Project Officer in LMI initiatives at the MRC in Sofia. Provide comprehensive administrative, financial, and logistical support in line with established procedures. Facilitate referrals and administrative follow-up for MRCs across Bulgaria, maintaining records of consultations. Organize Bulgarian Language Training groups, manage beneficiary registries, and verify eligibility. Support communication channels for information exchange with beneficiaries regarding migrant mobility and integration. Prepare monthly activity reports for the MRC and contribute data for final project reports. Provide guidance to new staff and perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Experience liaising with governmental authorities, international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with humanitarian organizations is advantageous, as is previous work with EU donors or migrants/refugees.
Skills
Awareness of migrant/refugee issues in Bulgaria. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and coordination skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Knowledge of labor market integration and migrant inclusion. Proficiency in MS Office. Ability to work independently and in a team. Problem-solving skills. Sensitivity to diversity and cultural differences. Fluency in Bulgarian and English required; Russian is desirable.
