Job Purpose
The National Project Officer will support the day-to-day operations and implementation of the Climate Mobility Innovation Lab (CMIL) Africa. This includes managing projects like the Risk Index for Climate Displacement (RICD) and the Climate Catalytic Fund (CCF). The role involves coordinating with IOM country offices and external partners to develop methodologies, enhance preparedness, and implement innovative responses to climate change and human mobility challenges across the African continent, contributing to evidence-based solutions and resilience-building.
Responsibilities
Manage and implement CMIL Africa projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to requirements. Support the organization and execution of the Regional CMIL Climate Mobility Symposium, including logistics, program finalization, and reporting. Contribute to the operational rollout of the Climate Catalytic Fund (CCF), managing grant administration and project monitoring. Liaise with IOM Country Offices and external partners (universities, research institutions, local authorities) to support implementation and coordination. Develop and apply methodologies for climate mobility and displacement risk. Assist in monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities. Draft technical reports, concept notes, and communication materials. Facilitate coordination with internal IOM support functions and support budget monitoring. Organize workshops and capacity-building events. Contribute to risk analysis and identify innovative solutions for climate-induced displacement.
Work Experience
Experience liaising with governmental authorities, international institutions, and UN agencies. Proven experience in climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, humanitarian response, or migration. Experience in organizing international events and workshop planning. Demonstrated experience in project development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, including grant management. Experience collaborating with diverse governmental and humanitarian actors is essential.
Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and project management capabilities. Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams. Understanding of climate migration, disaster resilience, or related fields is advantageous.
