ICAO Roster-Aircraft Airworthiness/Certification Engineer

Organizational Context

Under the direction of the Director of the Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau (CDI), the Field Operations Section (FOS) develops, implements, monitors, evaluates, and closes Technical Assistance (TA) and Technical Cooperation (TC) projects. The Field Personnel Section (FPS/FRU) recruits international experts for these projects and manages the ICAO Roster of Experts.

Job Purpose

To provide expert consultancy services for aircraft airworthiness and certification engineering. The role involves evaluating repair and modification proposals, investigating technical failures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Evaluate structure repair and modification proposals for compliance with design specifications and airworthiness standards. Coordinate with inspectors on repairs, modifications, and maintenance techniques. Conduct investigations into aircraft accidents and technical incidents. Monitor engineering work of designated representatives. Evaluate petitions for alternate means of compliance with airworthiness directives. Coordinate and administer special programmes and projects.

Work Experience

Minimum of ten years of diversified experience in modification, repair, overhaul, and maintenance of wide and narrow-body aircraft. Must be conversant with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) or Joint Aviation Regulations (JARs), airworthiness standards, policies, and procedures. Familiarity with ICAO annexes and documentation is essential. Knowledge of aircraft structure design, engine installation, certification, and failure analysis is highly desirable.
