ICAO Roster-Airport Mechanical Systems Expert (Baggage Handling, Boarding Bridges)

Organizational Context

Under the direction of the Director of the Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau (CDI), the Field Operations Section (FOS) develops, implements, monitors, evaluates, and closes Technical Assistance (TA) and Technical Cooperation (TC) projects. The Field Personnel Section (FPS/FRU) recruits international experts for these projects and manages the ICAO Roster of Experts.

Job Purpose

To serve as a senior mechanical engineer for airport mechanical systems, focusing on maintenance, construction progress reporting, and project proposal review. The role involves supervising contractors, initiating corrective actions, and training counterpart engineers.

Responsibilities

Serve as senior mechanical engineer for maintenance activities. Report on mechanical construction progress and recommend actions for problem areas. Supervise inspection of maintenance and operations by contractors. Review project proposals for mechanical facilities design and specifications. Initiate proposals for corrective actions on existing mechanical facilities. Review budgetary estimates for mechanical facilities. Train national counterpart engineers. Perform other related duties.

Work Experience

Extensive experience at a responsible level in the installation, maintenance, and operation of airport mechanical facilities (e.g., air-conditioning, heating, ventilating, fuel, water, sewage systems). Familiarity with the latest manufacturing and design criteria, report preparation, and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) is essential.
