ICAO Roster-Fire and Rescue Training Officer

Organizational Context

Under the direction of the Director of the Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau (CDI), the Field Operations Section (FOS) is responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and closure of Technical Assistance (TA) and Technical Cooperation (TC) projects. The Field Personnel Section (FPS/FRU) recruits international experts for Capacity Development and Implementation projects in Civil Aviation and manages the ICAO Roster of Experts.

Job Purpose

To act as a principal advisor on fire and rescue services training requirements, evaluate training progress, and develop and implement training programs for fire and rescue services personnel.

Responsibilities

Advise on training needs, travel to airports for evaluation, develop and implement on-the-job training, assist in instructor training and instructional techniques, contribute to policy formulation, and plan/evaluate formal training programs.

Work Experience

Ten years of training and experience in fire prevention and protection, including planning and management of fire and rescue activities at a major aerodrome. Requires practical supervisory experience in a fire rescue department at an aerodrome with 24-hour services. Knowledge of instructional techniques, audio-visual aids, lecturing, and on-the-job training is essential. Ability to plan, organize, and deliver training courses on various equipment and circumstances. Knowledge of fire suppression chemicals, pumping equipment, and aircraft structural design for emergency access is required. Ability to conduct surveys and write technical reports on fire rescue services is also necessary.
