ICAO Roster-Air Traffic Controller - Area/Route Radar
Organizational Context
Under the direction of the Director of the Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau (CDI), the Field Operations Section (FOS) develops, implements, monitors, evaluates, and closes Technical Assistance (TA) and Technical Cooperation (TC) projects. The Field Personnel Section (FPS/FRU) recruits international experts for these projects and manages the ICAO Roster of Experts.
Job Purpose
To perform area/route radar controller duties, provide on-the-job training to national controllers, and ensure ATC procedures conform to ICAO requirements. The role involves assessing trainee performance and handing over duties while retaining a supervisory role.
Responsibilities
Obtain aerodrome control rating, perform area/route radar control duties, coordinate with military controllers and other ATC units, provide on-the-job training and assess trainee performance, hand over duties to rated nationals while supervising, and ensure ATC procedures are up-to-date and compliant with ICAO requirements.
Work Experience
At least five years of experience in tower control at a mid-size airport, preferably with joint civil/military traffic. Experience in on-the-job training of controllers and as a supervisor. Ratings and experience in approach radar and area/route radar control are advantageous. Familiarity with ICAO Annexes 1 and 11 and related documents is required.
