ICAO Roster-Aviation Medicine Expert
Organizational Context
Under the direction of the Director of the Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau (CDI), the Field Operations Section (FOS) and Field Personnel Section (FPS/FRU) are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring technical assistance projects and recruiting international experts for capacity development in civil aviation.
Job Purpose
To provide expert assistance to Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA) in establishing and improving aviation medicine procedures and processes. The role aims to ensure the competency of medical examiners and the proper administration of aeromedical examinations.
Responsibilities
Assist CAA in establishing aeromedical examination procedures, including oversight of medical examiners and auditing medical records. Support the CAA Medical Assessor in developing regulatory aviation medicine procedures manuals. Advise on preparing guidance materials for medical examiners. Evaluate and recommend improvements for aviation medicine processes, including automation. Prepare project terminal reports. Perform other related duties.
Work Experience
At least 9 years of experience in aviation medicine, including performing flight physical examinations and issuing medical certificates. In-depth knowledge of ICAO SARPs and guidelines related to aviation medicine. Experience with Microsoft Office. Drafting aviation medicine procedures, manuals, or regulations, and experience with a national civil aviation authority are desirable.
