Organizational Context
The Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Technology supports Member States in developing safe, effective, and sustainable approaches across research reactors, nuclear fuel cycles, decommissioning, and waste management. The Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section specifically assists Member States in developing safe, environmentally friendly, and proliferation-resistant fuel cycle options, fostering information exchange on uranium/thorium, nuclear fuels, and advanced fuel cycles.
Job Purpose
Experts will contribute to the Section's goal of fostering technology and knowledge transfer, promoting sound policies, and facilitating information exchange to build Member States' capacity in all aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle. This involves providing specialized advice for technical editing of documents, developing training courses and eLearning materials, and creating web articles based on existing publications. The required expertise level varies from a basic general understanding to in-depth technical knowledge depending on the specific assignment within the nuclear fuel cycle.
Responsibilities
Experts will provide specialized advice and support to the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section. Key duties include performing technical editing of multi-author documents, developing training courses and lectures based on existing guidance, creating storyboards for eLearning modules aligned with published documents, and developing sequences of web articles derived from existing publications. Assignments may require varying levels of expertise, from general understanding to in-depth technical knowledge in specific areas of the nuclear fuel cycle.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required, particularly in editing, document writing, and/or training and knowledge transfer within the nuclear fuel cycle. Experience at national, regional, or international levels is advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across diverse cultural backgrounds are also important.
