Expert/Lecturer Technical Cooperation Programme

Organizational Context

The Department of Technical Cooperation (TC) directs the IAEA's technical cooperation programme, collaborating with Member States on planning, formulation, implementation, and monitoring. It comprises regional divisions, programme support, and the Programme of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT), aligning activities with the IAEA Medium Term Strategy.

Job Purpose

The IAEA's Technical Cooperation (TC) programme is the primary channel for delivering services to Member States, enabling them to build and maintain capacities in the safe, peaceful, and secure use of nuclear technology for sustainable development. TC experts provide specialized on-the-job training, assist counterparts with technical analyses, and offer recommendations to achieve project objectives. They may also serve as lecturers in training courses, transferring technical knowledge and skills through lectures and exercises. The role is for qualified experts available for short-term assignments.

Responsibilities

As a TC expert or lecturer, responsibilities include providing specialized on-the-job training to project counterparts. This involves assisting them in developing technical analyses and offering recommendations to meet TC project objectives. Additionally, experts may be called upon to participate in training courses as lecturers, delivering lectures and conducting exercises to transfer technical knowledge and skills to participants. The role requires contributing expertise in specific technical areas relevant to the IAEA's mandate.

Work Experience

Experience is required in at least one of the following areas: Energy, Industrial applications/radiation technology, Safety and security, Health and nutrition, Food and agriculture, Water and the environment, or Nuclear knowledge development and management.

Skills

Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Energy, Industrial applications/radiation technology, Safety and security, Health and nutrition, Food and agriculture, Water and the environment, Nuclear knowledge development and management. Fluency in English, French, or Spanish. Working knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, or Russian is an asset.
