Assistant Communication Specialist
Organizational Context
FAO Bangladesh established its Cox’s Bazar programme and sub-office in 2017 following the influx of Rohingya refugees. The sub-office focuses on food security, livelihoods, and natural resource management, supporting both host communities and refugees. Collaborating with government, UN agencies, and development partners, FAO Cox’s Bazar is an active participant in inter-sector programming and interventions within the region.
Job Purpose
The incumbent will familiarize themselves with FAO's corporate communication policies and operational guidelines to ensure consistency across all communication outputs. Working within FAO Bangladesh's annual communications plan, they will develop and implement their own plan and deliverables. This role is specifically focused on addressing the communication needs for FAO's operations in Cox's Bazar, ensuring effective dissemination of information and project visibility.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Communication Specialist will support the development and implementation of communication and content plans aligned with FAO guidelines and priorities. They will coordinate with country office, OCC, and project teams to ensure consistency and clearance of communication products, and ensure project visibility with partners. Responsibilities include assisting with resource mobilization documents, representing FAO in communication forums, and producing human-interest stories, videos, factsheets, and photos. The role involves uploading multimedia content to FAO's Digital Media Hub, providing rapid communication support during crises, and leading communication planning for field visits and events. They will review externally shared reports for consistency and branding, and coordinate OCHA-related communications, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and delivering high-quality outputs for grant agreements. The position also involves managing social media engagement, monitoring trends, and preparing monthly content calendars and engagement reports, all while adhering to FAO standards and guidelines.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in communication and reporting is required. This experience should align with the educational background and the responsibilities outlined for the role.
