Organizational Context
The Finance Division, within WIPO's Department of Program Planning and Finance, serves global IP stakeholders including national IP offices, businesses, and Member States. Job Purpose
As Director, the incumbent will collaborate with the CFO to shape the future vision of finance, driving technological strategies for transformation. This includes embedding AI/data analytics, managing division resources, and leading the digital transformation of financial processes via the ERP initiative. Key responsibilities involve ensuring customer-centric payment services, engaging with Member States and oversight bodies, managing risks, and continuously improving internal financial controls to support WIPO's mission and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The Director will co-create a vision for finance transformation, providing thought leadership in process change and evaluating innovative finance technologies. Responsibilities include aligning finance strategy with organizational goals, redesigning the finance operating model, and driving the digital and ERP transformation of the Division. This involves championing automation, managing change, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The role requires building strong partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including business areas, management functions, Member States, and clients, to ensure quality services and address complex financial challenges. Day-to-day management includes directing the Division's work, managing human and financial resources, and overseeing accounting policies, risk management, treasury, and financial reporting.
Work Experience
A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in finance or accounting, with at least seven years at the international level, is required. Substantial managerial experience, including leading multicultural teams, and demonstrated experience in finance digital transformation and ERP implementation projects with change management are essential.
Skills
Essential skills include strong problem-solving abilities, sound knowledge of ERP systems (accounting, finance, budget), and project management methodologies. Proficiency in technology vendor management, excellent leadership and communication skills, and influential collaboration are crucial. The candidate must be proactive, results-oriented, and possess excellent interpersonal skills for effective partnership building in a diverse environment, along with digital and data fluency.
