Job Purpose
The Project Manager will oversee the development and implementation of IT solutions within WFP's Digital Services unit, reporting to the Project Manager lead. This role is crucial for digitally transforming WFP's operations by leveraging technology to better serve those in need. The Project Manager will lead cross-functional teams, manage project lifecycles including resources, schedules, and financials, and ensure high-quality technical usability, user acceptability, and domain suitability of IT solutions. Responsibilities include managing risks, issues, and change requests, ensuring adherence to project management methodologies, and facilitating effective communication with stakeholders. The objective is to deliver complex IT projects successfully, on time, and within budget, contributing to WFP's mission of saving lives and changing them for the better.
Responsibilities
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing IT solutions and projects within the World Food Programme (WFP), ensuring high quality in technical usability, user acceptability, and domain suitability. This role involves leading teams to deliver projects across various business units, managing resources, schedules, financials, and adhering to deadlines throughout the entire project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include managing issues, risks, and change requests to ensure successful and timely project completion. The Project Manager will act as a central point of contact for business partners within the Technology division, liaising with Business Engagement Managers to understand project requirements and interdependencies. They will ensure requirements gathering follows a Human-Centered Design approach, define Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), and establish project governance, communication plans, and work plans. This includes implementing change management strategies and ensuring the delivery of IT solutions along with mechanisms for maintenance and evolution. The role also requires monitoring project progress against baselines, identifying and mitigating risks, managing project budgets and resources, and ensuring adherence to established project management methodologies and standards set by the Project Management Office. The Project Manager must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in diverse and high-pressure environments.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of professional project management experience, with a proven track record in managing the full project lifecycle. Experience with IT-related projects is preferred. Proficiency in project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile) and software tools is essential. A background in IT software development or strong knowledge of data and analytics is also necessary.
