Job Purpose
The IT Portfolio Manager will oversee the portfolio of projects under the Digital Business Transformation Plan (DBTP), ensuring IT solutions deliver value and high quality. This involves managing the delivery of projects across various business units, tracking resources, schedules, KPIs, and financials throughout the project lifecycle. The role focuses on ensuring clear, measurable benefits are articulated and tracked, driving cost-savings, decommissioning legacy applications, and reducing Shadow IT. The IT Portfolio Manager will provide visibility of the DBTP portfolio to senior management through regular reports and dashboards, enabling informed decision-making and escalating risks. This position is crucial for aligning IT investments with WFP's strategic goals and ensuring the successful implementation of digital transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities
The IT Portfolio Manager Consultant will oversee a portfolio of projects within the Digital Business Transformation Plan (DBTP), ensuring IT solutions deliver value and high quality. This role involves managing the entire project lifecycle, from initiation to closure, coordinating with various stakeholders including the Project Management Office (PMO), Budget Manager, and other IT divisions. Key responsibilities include establishing and tracking project performance, business cases, risks, and benefits realization through regular reporting to senior management and relevant committees. The consultant will ensure initiatives align with the organization's IT strategy, drive cost savings, and facilitate the decommissioning of legacy systems. Effective communication and stakeholder management are crucial for managing expectations regarding project timelines, risks, quality, and costs. The role also requires capturing and applying lessons learned to improve future project delivery. The consultant will support senior leadership in engagements with key decision-making bodies and address issues raised by technical and functional teams, ensuring timely and quality reporting on critical corporate initiatives. This position is vital for accelerating WFP's transformation into a digitally enabled, data-driven organization and achieving its zero-hunger mission.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 8 years of professional project management experience, with a proven track record in managing the full project lifecycle. Experience with IT-related projects is preferred. Proficiency in portfolio and project management methodologies like Agile/Scrum, and familiarity with project portfolio management tools are essential. A background or solid knowledge of IT is also necessary.
