Job Purpose
The Finance Associate (G6) will provide essential procedural and technical support within the finance and budget functions, ensuring adherence to WFP's financial policies, rules, and regulations. This role involves supporting the development and implementation of financial procedures, monitoring daily cash positions for optimal liquidity, and processing payments and invoices accurately and promptly. The Associate will contribute to budget preparation, expenditure monitoring, and forecasting to meet future funding needs. They will also coordinate with other teams to ensure efficient financial and administrative service delivery, monitor account balances, and analyze general ledger accounts for corrective actions. Additionally, the role includes compiling data for financial reports, allocating tasks, and providing on-the-job training to support staff in financial resource management, while remaining prepared for immediate emergency response requirements.
Responsibilities
The role involves providing comprehensive finance, budget, and administration support services to ensure the efficient operation of support functions and to inform decision-making. Key responsibilities include offering procedural and technical guidance to staff on finance and budget matters, ensuring adherence to WFP financial policies and regulations. This position supports the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and accounting systems, including robust cash controls. It requires monitoring daily cash positions for optimal liquidity and investment returns, and managing a centralized registry system for timely payment processing to staff and suppliers. The role also entails contributing to budget preparation, implementation, and monitoring, tracking expenditures, and forecasting future funding needs. Coordination with other teams is essential for efficient financial and administrative service delivery. Accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, monitoring account balances to prevent overdrafts, and analyzing general ledger accounts for corrective actions are critical. The position involves compiling data for monthly financial reports, allocating tasks to support staff, and providing guidance and training on financial resource management. Finally, the role requires maintaining emergency preparedness to meet immediate needs.
Work Experience
Requires six or more years of progressively responsible work experience within the relevant business stream. This experience should also include general administrative work.
