Job Purpose
The Programme Policy Officer (OIM & Communication) is crucial for enhancing WFP Armenia's analytical, strategic, and reporting capabilities. This role will lead and coordinate all Operations Information Management (OIM) and Communication activities, ensuring that robust data and insights inform evidence-based decision-making, programme performance monitoring, and donor engagement. The position is responsible for maintaining high-quality operational information, strengthening information management systems, and improving knowledge sharing to enhance operational effectiveness, accountability, and impact. Key responsibilities include supporting programme design and oversight, managing projects, ensuring data consistency, developing reporting frameworks, and leading communication efforts to highlight WFP's work and impact in Armenia.
Responsibilities
The Programme Policy Officer (OIM and Communications) is responsible for enhancing the World Food Programme's (WFP) operational effectiveness and strategic positioning. This role involves supporting programme design, implementation, and oversight, ensuring a strong focus on results and accountability. A key responsibility is managing operational information, including data collection, validation, and dissemination, to support evidence-based decision-making and compliance with WFP standards. The officer will lead the preparation of crucial reports such as the Annual Country Report and other corporate briefs, collaborating with various WFP units and UN agencies to ensure information consistency across platforms like UN INFO. Furthermore, the position entails developing and implementing systems for effective information management and performance reporting. Capacity building for WFP staff, partners, and government counterparts in operational information management is also a significant duty. On the communications front, the officer will lead the planning, drafting, and dissemination of various communication products, including press releases, human-interest stories, and social media content, to highlight WFP Armenia's work. This includes ensuring alignment with WFP's global narrative and donor priorities, monitoring media, and guaranteeing adherence to branding guidelines. The role aims to strengthen information management systems, reporting mechanisms, inter-agency collaboration, and WFP's visibility among stakeholders, ultimately improving organizational learning and knowledge sharing.
Work Experience
Requires at least seven years of professional experience in designing and implementing information management systems, analytical products, reporting frameworks, communications, and knowledge management. Demonstrated ability to foster partnerships and work effectively with diverse teams is essential. Familiarity with the UN humanitarian system is expected, with experience in emergency preparedness and response being desirable. Strong analytical, planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are necessary, along with proficiency in MS Office and data visualization tools.
