Job Purpose

The Logistics Officer will play a crucial role in supporting national logistics and supply chain operations within WFP, with a focus on transport, warehousing, and emergency preparedness. This position is instrumental in ensuring the efficient delivery of humanitarian assistance and enhancing national logistics capacity. The officer will lead capacity strengthening initiatives, coordinate logistics cluster activities, and develop/implement innovative logistics operations to guarantee timely and cost-effective supply of food assistance. Responsibilities include managing transport arrangements, overseeing warehouse procedures, conducting financial analysis, and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster an integrated supply chain approach. This role contributes significantly to WFP's emergency response efforts and aims to build a regional roster of qualified logistics professionals for future opportunities.

Responsibilities

The Logistics Officer role involves leading and strengthening national logistics capacity through training, workshops, and technical guidance. This includes enhancing preparedness, response capabilities, and supply chain management. The officer will act as the Logistics Cluster focal point, coordinating sector activities, facilitating meetings, and developing action plans. Responsibilities also include implementing logistics procedures, planning innovative operations for efficient food assistance delivery, and forecasting operational needs. Key duties encompass managing transport arrangements, contracting services, overseeing warehouse operations, and ensuring effective inventory management. The role requires coordinating support services, conducting financial analysis, and supervising junior staff. Market intelligence gathering, relationship building with supply chain partners, and reporting on logistics activities are crucial. The officer will provide technical advice, build partnerships with external stakeholders, and contribute to emergency preparedness and response efforts. This position may also contribute to a regional roster for future logistics opportunities across Asia and the Pacific, emphasizing agility and streamlined recruitment.

Work Experience
