Job Purpose
The Programme Policy Officer (Gender, Inclusion and PSEA) will ensure compliance with corporate and global requirements on gender equity, women's empowerment, and inclusion. This role involves working with programme teams to develop targeted activities that promote these objectives and address Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). The officer will provide strategic and technical support for WFP's gender and inclusion work, conduct analyses, lead capacity development initiatives for staff and partners, and coordinate PSEA assessments. They will also represent WFP in inter-agency forums, contribute to programme design with a focus on vulnerable groups, and support advocacy efforts. The position aims to integrate cross-cutting themes into WFP operations and ensure beneficiaries are aware of their rights and reporting channels.
Responsibilities
The Gender and Inclusion Officer provides strategic and technical support for WFP's initiatives in Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GEWE) and Inclusion, aligning with the Country Strategic Plan. Key responsibilities include leading gender, PSEA, and disability analyses to inform program design and implementation. The role involves capacity development for WFP staff and cooperating partners on gender, disability, and PSEA commitments, ensuring adherence to corporate policies and procedures. This includes conducting regular assessments, developing capacity strengthening plans, and coordinating with UN agencies for joint initiatives. The officer will represent WFP in various interagency forums, contribute to joint programming, and coordinate activities for International Women's Day and the 16 Days of Activism. Furthermore, the role supports the development of gender-focused projects and funding proposals, aiming to empower women through initiatives like rural livelihoods and digital literacy. Advocacy and partnership building with government bodies and other agencies are crucial for promoting gender equality and inclusion. The position also entails providing technical support for the PSEA framework, conducting risk assessments, and leading awareness campaigns to ensure beneficiaries are informed of their rights and reporting channels. This involves inter-agency coordination to harmonize reporting and response mechanisms for PSEA and GBV.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of three years of relevant post-graduation professional work experience in human development, specifically in areas such as gender equality, women's empowerment, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), or inclusion.
