Job Purpose
The Impact Evaluation Coordinator (Anticipatory Action) will play a crucial role in strengthening the evidence base on the effectiveness of humanitarian programming, particularly in anticipatory action. This position will serve as the primary liaison between WFP and OCHA, coordinating the planning and delivery of impact evaluations. The role involves engaging with stakeholders, Country Offices, and the WFP Anticipatory Action team to design and set up evaluations. The coordinator will lead the day-to-day engagement with stakeholders, oversee the implementation of Randomized Control Trials (RCTs), manage procurement of IRB approvals, and support the design and programming of household survey questionnaires. Additionally, the coordinator will lead or support data analysis, ensure data quality, co-author reports, and contribute to dissemination workshops, ultimately aiming to inform programme design, resource allocation, and global policy dialogue.
Responsibilities
The Impact Evaluation Coordinator (Anticipatory Action) role at the World Food Programme (WFP) is crucial for strengthening evidence-based decision-making in humanitarian efforts. This position serves as the primary liaison between WFP and OCHA, coordinating a strategic partnership focused on rigorous impact evaluations of humanitarian programming, particularly anticipatory action. Responsibilities include engaging with country teams and UN agencies to identify and assess opportunities for impact evaluations, developing evaluation designs in collaboration with global and country-level teams, and leading day-to-day stakeholder engagement. The coordinator will also prepare progress updates, donor reports, and document lessons learned. A significant portion of the role involves leading the implementation of impact evaluations, including Randomized Control Trials (RCTs), overseeing the procurement of IRB approvals, designing and revising survey questionnaires, and managing data collection firms. The coordinator will also lead or support data analysis, participate in field missions, and co-author evaluation-related publications. Key deliverables include successful management of 3-4 impact evaluations and effective communication outputs, contributing to WFP's mission of saving lives and changing lives through evidence-informed humanitarian assistance.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in supporting the delivery and quality of impact evaluations. Experience with climate/resilience impact evaluations or research is preferred. Additionally, experience managing Randomized Control Trials (RCTs) in the field, particularly in hardship duty stations, is a plus. Familiarity with working with UN and multilateral agencies, especially on multi-agency impact evaluations, is also advantageous.
