Job Purpose
The Driver (Level 2) will be responsible for providing efficient and safe transportation for authorized personnel and commodities across various locations in Pakistan. This role involves adhering strictly to UN safety and security regulations, maintaining accurate vehicle logbooks, and ensuring the assigned vehicle is kept in optimal condition. The Driver will also assist with basic customs formalities for arriving personnel and visitors, perform minor vehicle maintenance, and support administrative tasks such as filing and deliveries when not driving. This position is crucial for ensuring the smooth and secure operation of WFP's logistical activities within the country, contributing directly to the timely delivery of essential services and support to beneficiaries.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide safe and efficient transportation for authorized personnel and commodities, adhering strictly to UN safety and security regulations and authorized routing. This includes driving personnel to destinations and potentially assisting with basic translation during conversations. A key duty involves meeting official personnel and visitors at entry points, offering assistance with visa and customs procedures to ensure a smooth arrival. The role also requires meticulous maintenance of vehicle logbooks, daily reporting on the vehicle's mechanical status, and ensuring the vehicle is kept clean, well-maintained, and fully equipped with necessary authorizations and supplies. Drivers must follow established rules for field deliveries and accidents, reporting any issues promptly to their supervisor. Beyond driving, the position may involve basic office tasks like filing, photocopying, managing stores, and handling mail and bill payments, providing essential administrative support. The role also encompasses performing other related duties as assigned by the activity manager, ensuring comprehensive support within the scope of the position.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of two years of work experience as a Driver, ideally within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. A proven safe driving record is essential. Experience with various vehicle types, including vans and trucks, is necessary. Defensive driving experience is considered a plus.
