Job Purpose
The National Coordinator will lead and manage the Joint Programme 'Accelerating Progress towards Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment' (JP RWEE) in Tanzania. This role involves coordinating a multi-agency partnership (FAO, IFAD, UN Women, WFP) to achieve lasting improvements in rural women's lives, focusing on food security, nutrition, income generation, voice, agency, and a gender-responsive policy environment. Responsibilities
The National Coordinator is responsible for the comprehensive management and coordination of the Joint Programme 'Accelerating Progress towards Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment' (JP RWEE). This involves leading coordination mechanisms, acting as the overall programme manager for both internal and external partners, including participating organizations, implementing partners, government bodies, and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities include organizing and leading regular meetings with the Technical Working Group and National Steering Committee, as well as bi-annual coordination platforms with a broader range of local stakeholders. The role also entails leading the organization of multi-stakeholder forums and events, and maintaining regular communication and providing updates to senior management and government representatives. The National Coordinator ensures timely programme startup, oversees implementation according to approved plans, and manages the development of annual work plans and budgets. They are tasked with addressing implementation challenges, organizing joint field visits, and ensuring adherence to programme expenditure and performance indicators. Furthermore, the role involves overseeing monitoring and reporting systems, leading review processes, and preparing country-level annual and bi-annual reports for donors. A significant aspect of the role is fostering knowledge management and learning, encouraging innovation, and supervising the MEAL Coordinator. The National Coordinator also contributes to communications efforts to enhance programme visibility and performs other related duties as required.
Work Experience
The role requires an Advanced University degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Gender Studies, or Sociology, or a First University Degree with over five years of related experience. Fluency in both English and Kiswahili is essential. The position involves coordinating a joint program focused on rural women's economic empowerment, requiring strong management, communication, and stakeholder liaison skills. Experience in program implementation, monitoring, reporting, and knowledge management within international development assistance is expected.
