Job Purpose
The Community Liaison Assistant will support the "Strengthening Indigenous Peoples' Resilience to Climate Change in Vulnerable Areas of the Colombian Amazon" project. This role involves accompanying technical, functional, and governance diagnostics of community water and sanitation systems to identify infrastructure status, access gaps, and local capacities for operation and maintenance. The assistant will support community strengthening, formulate technical and social recommendations, and implement Nature-Based Solutions, value chains, and gender mainstreaming actions within beneficiary communities. This position is crucial for improving climate resilience, food security, and public health by ensuring sustainable access to safe water and sanitation services in indigenous and rural Amazonian communities.
Responsibilities
The Community Liaison Assistant will act as a technical liaison with territorial entities, facilitating the implementation of adaptation measures and resilience strategies. This role involves participating in community spaces and territorial technical roundtables, coordinating actions with local actors, and integrating traditional knowledge. The assistant will support the collection, systematization, and analysis of field information for project monitoring and evaluation, producing monthly technical reports. They will conduct field follow-ups on the technical and operational performance of partners, ensuring compliance with standards, schedules, and quality of interventions. Responsibilities also include supporting the strengthening of water committees and community structures, analyzing local operation and maintenance capacities, and proposing practical adjustments to community management models. The role requires gathering field data on water and sanitation systems in prioritized communities, assessing the physical and functional status of existing infrastructure, and identifying gaps in water availability, quantity, quality, sanitation, and waste management. The assistant will provide technical input for the contracting and supervision of implementing partners and consolidate field technical reports with findings, early warnings, and viable recommendations. Other technical activities related to the role within the framework of field operations and supervisor assignments are also expected.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of three years of field experience in rural water and sanitation projects, community development, or environmental management.
