Job Purpose

This position is instrumental in ensuring WFP's operations are data-driven, effective, and contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 17 (Partnerships).
Responsibilities
The Head of Research, Assessment and Monitoring (RAM) unit will lead WFP Nepal's efforts in food security, nutrition, and market analysis. This involves coordinating and overseeing assessments, research, and monitoring activities to inform WFP's Country Strategic Plan and humanitarian operations. The role requires strengthening national and local stakeholder capacities to respond to food insecurity and emergencies, and producing evidence for effective targeting and prioritization of assistance. Utilizing the latest science and technology is crucial for designing, implementing, and monitoring food security, nutrition, and social protection programs. The position also entails leading the RAM unit, including Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM) and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) functions, ensuring high-standard evidence generation systems, and managing staff. Key responsibilities include developing research and evidence generation plans, providing technical advice to government and partners, managing community feedback mechanisms, representing WFP in relevant forums, and contributing to UN cooperation frameworks. The role emphasizes capacity strengthening of internal and external stakeholders and strategic planning, ensuring data-driven decision-making and program effectiveness to save and change lives.
Work Experience
Requires at least 6 years of relevant professional experience in international development or humanitarian work. Must have led or managed evidence generation, monitoring, and evaluation activities. Familiarity with IT solutions for program and project monitoring is also necessary.
