Job Purpose
The Education Officer (Climate Resilience) will support the implementation of UNICEF’s resilient education agenda, focusing on climate change and disaster risk reduction in multiple Pacific countries. This role involves harnessing opportunities for regional coordination and working closely with the Education team, other relevant sections (WASH, Supplies, ECD, Climate and Emergency), and country offices. The objective is to advance children's rights and well-being by addressing critical challenges faced by small island developing states, such as climate change vulnerability, geographic isolation, and service delivery constraints, ensuring that education systems are robust and adaptable to these environmental and developmental pressures.
Responsibilities
The Education Officer will provide support to programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and the specific needs of the Pacific region. Key responsibilities include programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results, tracking progress and ensuring effective implementation of education initiatives. The role requires providing technical and operational support to programme implementation, offering expertise in climate-resilient education strategies. Furthermore, the officer will be responsible for coordination and partnership building with national governments, local organizations, and other UN agencies to foster collaboration and leverage resources. Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building are also crucial, involving the development and dissemination of best practices and supporting the strengthening of local capacities in education resilience.
Work Experience
2 years of relevant work experience in Programme planning, Management, Research in Education, or any other related fields.
