Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Education Specialist, Access and Quality, the Education Officer will provide dedicated technical, operational and programmatic support to advance UNICEF Cameroon’s work on digital education, foundational literacy and numeracy, skills development, entrepreneurship and employability. The post will support the design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of integrated, inclusive and gender-responsive interventions that equip children, adolescents and young people—particularly girls, out-of-school youth, children with disabilities, displaced populations and those affected by crisis—with the competencies, confidence and opportunities required to learn, innovate and transition successfully from learning to work. The incumbent will contribute to strengthening UNICEF Cameroon’s capacity to translate the outcomes of the Girls’ Movement and the Girls’ Manifesto into concrete, scalable programme actions. The role will help reinforce pathways that promote girls’ agency, leadership and participation while expanding access to 21st century skills, green skills, digital competencies, entrepreneurship and workforce-readiness opportunities for vulnerable adolescents and young people.
Responsibilities
The post will improve programme quality, partner engagement, field monitoring, evidence generation, donor reporting and coordination with government, private sector, technology, training and development partners. It will contribute to identifying and scaling practical solutions that promote digital inclusion, economic empowerment and sustainable socio-economic participation for young people across Cameroon. Key duties and responsibilities include: Support the design and planning of inclusive digital education, skills development, entrepreneurship and employability programmes. Contribute to strategies, workplans, tools, learning resources and evidence generation to improve literacy, numeracy, digital skills and workforce readiness. Support programme implementation, monitoring, reporting, field visits, risk tracking and resource use. Provide technical and operational support to government and implementing partners. Promote digital literacy, life skills, green skills, career guidance and entrepreneurship across learning pathways. Strengthen partnerships with government, private sector, youth organizations, civil society, academia and development partners. Support advocacy, communication, resource mobilization and sector coordination. Document lessons learned, good practices and evidence to inform programme improvement and policy dialogue.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in education programme development and implementation, particularly in digital learning or skills development, adolescent and youth employability, inclusive education or related field is required.
