Organizational Context
UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. The Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) aims to achieve results for children by maximizing private sector fundraising and partnerships. The global Innovative Financing for Children (IF4C) initiative is key to UNICEF's Strategic Plan.
Job Purpose
The Innovative Finance Hub, founded in 2022, aims to catalyze global capital in support of children to fill the SDG gap and radically accelerate progress towards the SDGs. This role is crucial in understanding and solving the challenge of why finance is not working for children, given the growing funding gap for SDGs and the limited consideration of children in investment practices. The Hub seeks to position children in the investor agenda through approaches like Child-Lens Investing, driving scalable solutions by combining organizational expertise with startup thinking and new partnerships.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Officer will support the Innovative Finance Hub's strategic objectives by identifying and engaging potential partners, including financial institutions, corporations, and foundations, to mobilize capital for children. This involves developing and implementing partnership strategies, crafting compelling proposals, and managing relationships with key stakeholders. The role will contribute to the development and execution of innovative financing mechanisms and investment approaches, such as Child-Lens Investing, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's Strategic Plan and the Sustainable Development Goals. Responsibilities include conducting market research, analyzing financial trends, and assessing partnership opportunities. The officer will also support the Hub in organizing events, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities to promote innovative finance for children. Collaboration with internal UNICEF divisions and external entities will be essential to foster a conducive ecosystem for child-focused investments and to track progress and impact. The role requires proactive engagement to build a pipeline of potential funding and partnership opportunities.
