Job Purpose
The Health Monitoring and Evaluation Officer supports the Health Section in the effective implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of health programmes. This role is crucial for enhancing programme performance and achieving country office results by contributing to evidence-based decision-making and programmatic coherence. The officer will focus on strengthening integrated monitoring, evaluation, and data systems, particularly for maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (MNCAH) and Community Health Systems interventions. By analyzing data, developing monitoring tools, and preparing evaluation reports, the position aims to generate actionable insights, identify gaps, and inform corrective actions to improve programme effectiveness and alignment with national health priorities.
Responsibilities
Support the Health Manager in timely data collection and quality control for Health Programmes, with a primary focus on MNCAH and Community Health System Interventions. Provide Result-Based Management support to the Health Section, ensuring alignment with MNCAH and Community Health System Interventions. Assist the Health Manager in monitoring Field Offices' activities related to MNCAH and Community Health interventions. Contribute to partnership development, reporting, and knowledge management initiatives within the Health Section. Analyze programme data to assess the impact of results and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with cross-sectoral teams, including Nutrition, WASH, and SBC, to enhance the efficiency, impact, and alignment of UNICEF's health interventions with national priorities. Ensure that all monitoring and evaluation activities are conducted in accordance with UNICEF's standards and procedures. Prepare regular reports on programme progress, challenges, and lessons learned for management and stakeholders. Support the development and implementation of evaluation frameworks and methodologies. Contribute to building the capacity of national partners in monitoring and evaluation of health programmes.
Work Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, data management, or public health programmes. Demonstrated expertise in data collection, analysis, reporting, and knowledge management.
