Organizational Context
The Demographic Resilience Analyst post is situated within the UNFPA Ukraine Country Office in Kyiv, reporting to the Deputy Representative. Job Purpose
The Demographic Resilience Analyst will analyze the complex interrelationships between demographic changes and national, regional, and global development concerns. This includes examining how population growth, aging, decline, urbanization, and migration impact poverty, inequality, labor markets, social protection, economics, and environmental sustainability. The role is crucial for informing evidence-based policies and strategies that build societal resilience to evolving demographic trends. By providing critical analysis and policy recommendations, the incumbent will support UNFPA's mission to adapt to demographic shifts and contribute to achieving transformative results outlined in the strategic plan, ensuring that development efforts are informed by demographic realities.
Responsibilities
The analyst will conduct in-depth analyses linking demographic change with development goals, assessing policies on fertility, aging, youth, and migration, and their implications for social protection and labor markets. Responsibilities include analyzing development assistance trends and preparing various reports, briefs, and presentations for diverse audiences. The role supports the development of demographic and development strategies to enhance societal resilience, contributing to UNFPA Ukraine's country programs, Common Country Assessments, and Cooperation Frameworks. Additionally, the analyst will assist in organizing conferences on demographic issues, liaising with key stakeholders including sister agencies, academia, civil society, and the private sector, and supporting routine meetings and program management activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in analyzing demographics-development linkages, conducting data analysis, and report writing. Proficiency in data analysis and visualization using statistical software and databases is required. Experience in translating evidence into policy recommendations, policy dialogues, and project management is essential. Familiarity with the UN system is desirable.
