Job Purpose
This role is responsible for the overall management, work programme, and strategic planning of the Corporate Management Division (CMD) within UN-Habitat. The incumbent will lead and supervise the division's substantive work, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of administrative, operational, and programme support services. Key contributions include formulating strategies, managing human resources and budgets, overseeing operational support to other divisions and offices, and engaging in UN system reforms. The role is crucial for enhancing UN-Habitat's institutional effectiveness, driving business transformation, and ensuring cohesive organizational performance across all levels, aligning with the Executive Director's delegated authority.
Responsibilities
The role encompasses comprehensive management of the Corporate Management Division's work programme and strategic planning, including supervision of its implementation and coordination of all units. Responsibilities include overseeing divisional activities, ensuring timely execution, and coordinating efforts within UN-Habitat and with external service providers like UNON. The position contributes to strategy formulation, advises the Executive Director, and manages teams and committees. Key duties involve ensuring high-quality outputs, managing both substantive and financial components of the work programme, and implementing recommendations from oversight bodies. Additionally, the role oversees human resources management, financial and budget management, provides operational support to other divisions and offices, and leads engagement within the UN system on reforms, including reporting to intergovernmental bodies and managing corporate risk.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in human resources, administration, or financial management. At least seven years of leadership experience managing diverse teams and five years in risk management and internal control are necessary. Experience in HR management within a large international organization, budget/financial reporting, and presenting to intergovernmental bodies is also required. Experience supporting UN country/regional offices and in data analytics is desirable.
