Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for Partnerships (UN Partnerships) serves as the UN system's gateway for co-creating partnerships to achieve global solutions and support the Decade of Action for the Sustainable Development Goals. It oversees key programs like SDG Advocates, UNFIP, and UNDEF. This role is integral to supporting all UN Partnerships initiatives.
Job Purpose
The Associate Public Information Officer will support all initiatives of the UN Partnerships, acting as a connector to engage stakeholders and leverage solutions for the SDGs. This role involves tracking and analyzing information, developing diverse communication products such as press releases, newsletters, and website content, and managing information systems projects. The officer will also contribute to strategic partnerships, organize events, respond to inquiries, and analyze data for reporting and decision-making, ensuring effective communication efforts align with UN priorities and contribute to achieving global goals.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include tracking, researching, and analyzing information on assigned topics, assessing news value, and evaluating campaign effectiveness. The role involves drafting and compiling various communication products like press releases, reports, brochures, and digital content for diverse audiences. It also includes participating in information systems project planning, developing user requirements, and organizing the production and distribution of information materials. The officer will identify information opportunities, build strategic partnerships, organize and support events, respond to inquiries, and contribute to data analysis and visualization for planning and reporting. Additionally, managing production and publications for print, electronic, and visual media is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive experience in public information, journalism, international relations, or public administration is required. Experience in video production, broadcast, organizing media for complex events, and content creation is also required. Experience in data analytics, including collection, analysis, interpretation, and visualization of communications data, is desirable.
Skills
Professionalism in planning and executing communication campaigns, research and analysis of current events, drafting clear and concise written products, building business connections, and data interpretation. Strong communication skills for effective speaking, writing, and listening. Proficiency in planning and organizing tasks, setting priorities, managing time, and anticipating risks.
