Job Purpose
The Development Coordinator in Kosovo leads and coordinates the UN Kosovo Team (UNKT) to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This role involves representing the UN development system, fostering partnerships with government and diverse stakeholders, and ensuring system-wide accountability for UN operational activities. The purpose is to advance sustainable development, leaving no one behind, by coordinating UN support, advocating for SDGs, and leveraging UN system assets to address Kosovo's needs and priorities. The role also involves managing the UNKT's work, promoting UN values, and facilitating access to resources and innovation for sustainable development solutions.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include representing the UN development system at high levels, fostering engagement with government, civil society, and partners to advance the 2030 Agenda and SDGs. The role involves leading the UNKT in coordinating operational activities, developing and monitoring the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, and supporting member agencies. This includes coordinating UN support to government, mitigating risks, and advocating for UN Charter principles, human rights, and gender equality. Strategic partnerships with diverse entities are crucial. The role also entails leveraging UN system expertise, overseeing financing instruments, pursuing funding, and promoting the UN's normative agenda. Fostering collaboration, facilitating access to resources, leading strategic communication, and potentially coordinating security as the Designated Official are also key duties. Management of the Development Coordinator's Office and promoting common UN business operations are included.
Work Experience
A minimum of 15 years of substantive international leadership experience is required, including at least five years in development, human rights, rule of law, peace-building, or humanitarian work at the country level outside one's own country. Previous experience as a Resident Coordinator, Designated Official for Security, or in managing humanitarian responses is desirable.
