Information Systems Officer, DPS/IT (Temporary)
Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC) aims to transform trade and change lives by enabling trade-led economic development, particularly in the Global South. The Information Technology & Systems (IT&S) section provides IT solutions across the organization, supporting units like the Green & Inclusive Value Chains (GIVC) section and its Trade for Sustainable Development (T4SD) programme.
Job Purpose
This role supports the International Trade Centre's (ITC) mission by contributing to the Information Technology & Systems (IT&S) section. The incumbent will assist in preparing user requirements, designing, developing, and installing information systems, and analyzing system modules for enhancements. Responsibilities include rigorous testing, system maintenance, operational support, and implementing system changes. The role also involves participating in IT project planning, budget management, resource identification, and ensuring quality assurance for project deliverables. Additionally, the incumbent will develop programs for system interfaces, ensure data security and integrity, contribute to disaster recovery planning, and maintain system documentation. Client interaction, advising users on hardware/software, and developing training materials are also key aspects of this position.
Responsibilities
Key duties include preparing user requirements and technical specifications, assisting in the design, development, and installation of information systems, and analyzing system modules for enhancements and new features. The role involves rigorous testing of applications software, maintaining systems, and providing operational support. Responsibilities extend to participating in IT project planning, scheduling, and budgeting, identifying resources, managing deviations, and ensuring quality assurance. The incumbent will write programs for system interfaces, ensure data security and integrity, and contribute to disaster recovery plans. Maintaining system documentation, assisting with procurements, monitoring software performance, and providing Helpdesk support are also essential. Facilitating client communications, developing Service Level Agreements (SLAs), advising users on technology, and conducting training sessions are further duties. The role may involve guiding junior staff and contributing to data analysis and visualization for decision-making.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of recent, relevant experience in planning, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining modern web applications is required. Experience in client-facing roles is desirable. Experience with JavaScript, modern backend/frontend frameworks (Angular, NodeJS, NestJS), NoSQL databases, and DevOps/cloud practices is also desirable.
