Organizational Context
The Secretariat of the Chief Executives Board (CEB) supports the UN system's highest-level coordination forum and its high-level committees on Programmes and Management. Co-located in New York and Geneva, this role is based in Geneva and reports to the Senior Inter-agency Adviser, Budget and Finance, also working under the guidance of the Chair of the Task Force on Accounting Standards.
Job Purpose
The Associate Programme Management Officer will facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes and projects for the High-level Committee on Management (HLCM). This involves monitoring and analyzing project aspects, identifying issues, and recommending solutions. The role provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation, including reviewing emerging trends. It also assists in consulting assignments, planning workshops, and developing action plans for change management. The officer will act as a focal point for survey initiatives, analyze data, and contribute to various written outputs for HLCM sessions and working groups, while also providing administrative and substantive support for meetings and conferences.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes and projects in collaboration with HLCM stakeholders. Monitor and analyze programme/project development and implementation, review documents, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions. Conduct basic research on programmes and operations, collecting, analyzing, and presenting statistical data. Provide substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation, including reviewing emerging issues and trends. Assist in consulting assignments by planning and facilitating workshops and developing action plans. Serve as a focal point for survey initiatives, design data collection tools, analyze responses, and prepare conclusions. Contribute to written outputs such as background papers, analytical notes, and reports for HLCM sessions and working groups. Provide administrative and substantive support for meetings and conferences, including agenda preparation and logistics. Participate in and present on assigned topics.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Experience within the UN system is desirable. Experience in inter-agency coordination and organizing high-level events is also desirable.
