Job Purpose
The Project Director will provide strategic direction, planning, design, and execution oversight for the UPU's headquarters building renovation project, a significant undertaking projected to last six years. This role involves managing human, financial, and technical resources, including preparing loan applications and overseeing all project stages from conceptualization to completion. The incumbent will ensure the project aligns with organizational objectives for modernization, sustainability, accessibility, and security, while maintaining business continuity throughout the renovation process. This position requires strong leadership to guide the project team, coordinate with various directorates and external stakeholders, and ensure effective governance and decision-making.
Responsibilities
The Project Director is accountable for the comprehensive strategic direction, planning, design, and execution of the UPU's building renovation project. This includes managing all human, financial, and technical resources, and overseeing the entire project lifecycle from initial studies through to completion. Key duties involve preparing loan applications, managing tender processes for architects and contractors, and ensuring business continuity during renovations. The role requires providing strategic guidance, technical advice on quality, cost, and deadlines, and leading the development of a modern, sustainable, and accessible workspace. Responsibilities also include establishing and implementing project management plans, reviewing and approving contracts, managing project costs and budgets, and mitigating risks. Effective coordination with internal directorates, external authorities, and stakeholders is crucial, as is ensuring high-quality deliverables and reporting project progress, including budgetary and programmatic issues.
Work Experience
A minimum of 12 years of international experience in relevant areas is required. This experience should encompass project management, construction, and related fields.
