Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC) aims to transform trade and change lives by enabling trade-led economic development, particularly in the Global South. Within the Division of Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions (DECI), the Sector and Enterprise Competitiveness Section (SEC) develops sector-level expertise. This role within SEC will focus on expanding coverage in manufacturing sectors.
Job Purpose
The Associate Programme Officer will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects within the Sector and Enterprise Competitiveness Section (SEC) of the International Trade Centre (ITC). This role involves monitoring project progress, analyzing data, conducting research, and providing substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions. The officer will assist in consulting assignments, facilitate workshops, and contribute to the preparation of various written outputs, including reports and publications. Additionally, the role includes supporting outreach activities, participating in field missions, and coordinating budget-related activities to ensure effective program delivery and data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects, monitoring progress and identifying issues for corrective action. Conduct basic research, collecting and analyzing statistical data from diverse sources to support programme operations. Provide substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation, including reviewing emerging trends and participating in studies. Assist in consulting assignments by planning and facilitating workshops and developing action plans. Support survey initiatives by designing data collection tools, analyzing responses, and preparing preliminary conclusions. Contribute to written outputs such as background papers, analytical notes, and reports. Provide administrative and substantive support for meetings and conferences. Undertake outreach activities, including developing and participating in training workshops and seminars. Participate in field missions for data collection and support. Coordinate budget funding activities, including preparation of submissions and reports. Contribute to data analysis, trend identification, and reporting using data visualization methods.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Four years of experience is required if holding a first-level degree. Experience in the UN common system, reporting, and sector development within a manufacturing sector is desirable.
