Organizational Context

This position is within the ERP Solution Division of the UN Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance in New York. The role reports to the ERP Director and focuses on the architecture and integration of the Umoja solution, a global ERP transformation initiative. The incumbent co-manages key workstreams and development teams, ensuring effective service delivery and resource optimization across the UN.

Job Purpose

The Principal Programme Management Officer is responsible for co-leading the formulation and implementation of the ERP's work plan, ensuring the ongoing development and maintenance of the Umoja solution. This involves managing both functional and technical aspects, evaluating inter-operability, and overseeing solution architecture, techno-functional integration, system administration, and release management. The role also focuses on software and licensing controls, and executing upgrade plans to enhance the ERP's capabilities and ensure minimal disruption to operations. The objective is to support high-quality, cost-effective service delivery aligned with evolving UN mandates.

Responsibilities

Co-lead the formulation and implementation of the ERP work plan for the Umoja solution, focusing on ongoing development and maintenance. Direct the evaluation and implementation of Umoja's Solution Architecture, including technology roadmaps, fit-gap analysis, and enhancement proposals. Oversee the translation of business requirements into detailed technical solutions, ensuring integration fitness and inter-operability. Advise senior counterparts on the implications of changes to organizational entities, processes, and functionality. Assure the planning and implementation of techno-functional integration across all Umoja workstreams and interfaces with other UN systems. Oversee the Continuous Improvements program, directing development and configuration for ongoing enhancement. Manage the IT planning and release management processes, aligning infrastructure and application development. Oversee SAP systems engineering, landscape management, and security requirements, including upgrades and optimization. Ensure effective software and licensing controls, promoting minimal customization and optimal risk management. Develop and execute comprehensive upgrade plans, collaborating with teams to mitigate risks and implement new functionalities.

Work Experience

A minimum of fifteen years of progressive experience in implementing computer systems for Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Human Capital Management processes with finance integration in a global public sector setting is required. Experience in end-to-end ERP Solution Architecture management, including integration, design, build, roll-out, configuration, landscape planning, release management, and deployment is essential. Experience with IPSAS implementation and within the UN system or similar international organizations is desirable.
